Brighten Up

Happy Friday Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well today! It's dark, gloomy and damp here in Northeastern PA. Hopefully this post will brighten your day :)

Today's outfit of the day might require some shades. We're brightening it up the wardrobe here on NEPA Fashionista! I paired this vivid vibrant yellow sweater from Old Navy with this bold pink button up shirt. Worn with distressed skinny jeans, the look is modernized and casual. To add more flavor to the outfit, I slipped on my comfy cheetah print flats and my go-to statement necklace from J. Crew. An outfit that is sure to brighten up a day!

Hope your Friday is as bright as this outfit :)

Get Printed

Good Morning Ladies and Gents!

It's Hump Day: Let's get printed!

Today I'm focusing on spring animal prints. Animal prints have been gracing the fashion world every year. How do animal prints vary season to season? It's all in the color combination. For spring, choose prints that are designed using a lighter neutral palette. The softer hues can easily be paired with the bold bright colors of the season.

This ivory leopard print tank top from the Limited is an amazing partner to this vibrant coral blazer. The print gives the look a nice edge, while the blazer adds sophistication to the ensemble. Styled with dark wash denim skinnies and  nude pumps and finished off with classy gold accessories, this outfit is perfect for any spring event!

How will you wear animal prints this season?

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Denim on Denim

Good Morning Everyone!

Today, we're talking denim on denim. I know what you're thinking: Denim on denim? Fashion faux pas! Believe me, I thought the same thing. But every time I saw an ad for a clothing store of models donning the style or a blog post of individuals modeling the look, the more the trend grew on me. I was up for the challenge! With the right wardrobe pieces and the right denim washes, anyone can knock out this look.

For my denim combination challenge, I paired my dark wash jean jacket from Old Navy over a simple white tank top. The jacket's counterpart? My favorite distressed skinny jeans from the GAP. I topped off the look with a dainty spring floral scarf, coral polka dot pointy flats and some colorful jewelry.

When pairing denim on denim, make sure you opt for different washes. The dark denim hue of the jacket blends well with the lighter color denim skinnies. Adding colorful accessories makes a denim and denim outfit polished.

Have you ever tried denim on denim?

On a side note, the weather here in NEPA has still been chilly, hence why there hasn't been any new site locations. Once the temps warm up, I will be out and about, sharing with you the beauties NEPA has to offer!

Have a wonderful Tuesday ladies and gents!

Coral and Camo

Good Morning Everyone! And Happy First Day of Spring!

Today we're talking coral and camo. Coral is such a beautiful spring/summer color and can be styled with just about anything. I chose to wear this amazing coral blouse, from Express, with a pair of camo skinnies and nude pumps. Talk about a perfect combination! The coral and the neutral colors play well together and who doesn't like camo? The pattern is hot this season! Style with some gold jewelry and you're outfit is complete!

How do you wear coral?

Today's pictures were taken in front of a local church on Franklin Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre. The amazing stone exterior caught my eye and thought it would be a perfect backdrop. The city is filled with many beautiful churches. The architecture of the structures are magnificent and carry so much character. Next time you're in Wilkes Barre, take notice of the amazing historical churches that call the city their home.

Sun and Stripes

Happy Hump Day!

The sun is out in NEPA and so are many of the local residents. I headed over to the local community park, Kirby Park, to enjoy the sun and take some pictures. It was nice to see groups of people, especially kids, running around the grounds in the sunshine. Spring is just about here!

Today, I paired this lightweight navy/white stripe sweater with a white button down, skinny jeans, and yellow pumps, jewelry and purse . The yellow accents in the sweater really pop with the accessories. An outfit perfect for sunshine!

Hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday!

Irish for the Day

Good Morning and Happy St. Patty's Day!

I am currently en route back to NEPA after a fun filled St. Patty's Day weekend up in Boston. Boston's St. Patty's Day festivities are unreal: from the parade, to the bar scene, to the local street corners. If you're not Irish, you definitely feel like you are in the wonderful city of Boston.

Surprisingly, I am not Irish, but I definitely like to embrace being Irish for the Day. Today, I'm wearing the colors of the Irish flag: orange, green and white. I paired this orange sweater from the GAP with a white tank, distressed skinny jeans, a bold green scarf and these cute gold glitter flats. A comfortable stylish outfit to celebrate the Irish holiday!

How do you celebrate St. Patty's Day?

Black Out

Good Morning! Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend!

How cool is the mural in the pictures below? My friend Ian and I discovered this amazing art work a couple weeks ago. It is located in downtown Wilkes Barre near the movie theater and St. Mary's Church. With the colors being so vivid, I thought it was about time to rock all black...

Who doesn't like wearing black? It's classy, chic, modern and forgiving. I'm sure you all can agree with me on the latter! Today's outfit is a little daring. I have really been debating the crop top/ high-waist trend, so I decided to give it a try. I paired these super comfy high-waist black shorts with a basic black crop top and casual blazer. To add just a little pop of color, I styled the outfit with my bold yellow pumps and clutch. Perfect for a night out with friends.

Verdict on the crop top/ high-waist: I'm digging it!

How do you wear all black?

Color Creamsicle

Good Morning All!

When I think of spring, I think of pretty pastel colors. This soft orange hue reminds me of a creamsicle. This lightweight sweatshirt from the GAP is a wonderful winter to spring transition piece, and the color is perfect for the season. I wore it over a faint pinstripe chambray shirt with some distressed skinny jeans, nude pumps and a cluster of pearls around my neck. A delicious outfit, almost as good as a creamsicle!

Today's pictures were taken at the River Front in downtown Wilkes Barre. The area along the water has two levels. If standing on the second level, you can take in a beautiful view of the Susquehanna River and the historical buildings that border River Street. In the background, you'll be able to see the Luzerne County Courthouse to the left and King's College's administration building to the right. If you've never taken a stroll on the newly remodeled River Front park, I highly recommend it! Beau!

A Little Taste of Spring

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

For the past couple weeks, I have been having a very serious case of spring fever and yesterday, I received a dose of medicine! It was a beautiful day in Northeastern PA: clear blue skies, a bright happy sun and temperatures reaching the low 60's. Just what the doctor ordered!

With the warmer weather in full effect, I thought I'd showcase one of my favorite spring outfits. This lightweight mint sweater pairs perfectly with the colorful detailed print in this J. Crew pencil skirt. I styled the look with a statement necklace and light pink bow pumps that complement the outfit's spring hues.

Now, let's get to this amazing watch sculpture in the pictures below. If you're traveling down Wilkes-Barre Blvd and arrive at the intersection of Wilkes Barre Blvd and Market Street, you'll be able to see this deconstructed watch. Mounted up on a slab of white marble, this artwork is timeless (no pun intended)! Just one of the little fascinating things that make the Wyoming Valley special.

What are some of your favorite spring outfits?

Going Tribal

Good Morning All! Hope you had a fantastic weekend!

Spring forward! I am so happy spring is just around the corner. It's time to bring out those lighter sweaters and enjoy the longer days ahead. A great sweater pattern this season is the tribal print. This fashion trend first appeared thousands of years ago and was worn by men and women all around the world. This sweater from Target has a wonderful blend of colors perfect for the winter/spring transition. Paired with a white tank, black leggings, taupe riding boots and a statement necklace, this outfit is perfect for a casual spring day!

All throughout Wilkes Barre, you can find little nooks and crannies between buildings exposing beautiful paintings by local artists. This spot is right next to the local movie theater's parking lot. This hidden treasure was the perfect background for the tribal inspired outfit.

How are you wearing tribal prints this season?

The brand's clothing and accessories are beautiful and such good quality. Their collection this spring season is exceptional! From the colors, to the patterns, to the statement jewelry. Check out below to see what I'm recently craving!

And the Wind Blue...

Good Morning!

Yesterday, the sun was beating down and the wind was blowing. It was a beautiful scene at the newly renovated riverfront in Wilkes Barre. The remnants of snow sparkled in the sunlight and the wind gave life to the bare trees along the Susquehanna River.

In the late 1700's, settlers from Connecticut traveled southwest and established the River Common on the east side of the Susquehanna River. By 1804, Wilkes Barre park system was finally created and used the riverfront as a common ground for events, parties and meetings. This still holds true for today. Throughout the year, the River Commons committee holds events such as art festivals, music festivals, marathons, and other local community events. In 2007, the area was revitalized, making it more appealing and accessible to the public. There are so many beautiful spots along the Susquehanna River, I'm sure you'll be seeing the riverfront backdrop in my future posts :)

With the wind in the air, I decided to wear my royal blue peacoat from Old Navy. Underneath, I layered a heather gray polka dot sweater over a light pink/gray plaid shirt, granite gray skinnies, bow pumps and a pink statement necklace.

Enjoy and have a wonderful day!

Pencil Skirt Me In

Good morning everyone and hope you are all keeping warm!

Today we're talking pencil skirts. The long and slim skirt has been gracing women's wardrobes since the Old American Frontier era. Christian Dior took it up a notch in the late 1940's creating a more modern look to the skirt. Currently, the pencil skirt is very popular trend in office environments and the social scene.

In today's OOTD, I paired this slim fit black pencil skirt from Ann Taylor with a bright fuchsia blouse, black tights, pointy toe booties and a statement necklace. A great look that can be worn to work or for a night out on the town!

Today's pictures were taken in front of The F.M. Kirby Center in downtown Wilkes Barre. This historic theater was built in the 1930's and gave residents the opportunity to view Hollywood movies and experience local performing arts. Presently, the playhouse is still up and running and offer musicals, concerts and other exciting events for the residents of NEPA!
